What’s included
BOOKING FORM HERE – PLEASE ADD YOUR AGE! Driving in Northern CyprusAs there is so much of both historical and natural beauty to see in Northern Cyprus, Car Hire is highly recommended and great value for money. A UK or International Driving Licence held for a minimum of 3 years is required and to rent a vehicle in north Cyprus, drivers must be 25 years or over. Please note that if you have a new photo ID driving licence you will need to take the paper counterpart with you. For more details contact the DVLA in Swansea prior to your holiday. The volume of traffic in Northern Cyprus is generally light (compared to the UK) though near the towns we do suffer with congestion, especially when everyone is making their way to school and work in the mornings and then rushing to get home in the evening! Drivers tend not to use their indicators quite as carefully as in the UK, so beware of the vehicle in front of you suddenly disappearing off to the left or the right. Horns are quite merrily used, especially when overtaking. Cars are not obliged to stop at pedestrian crossings here, though out of courtesy, many do. The speed limits in North Cyprus are displayed in kilometres per hour. A rough guide is:
The Police patrol these restrictions and it is fairly common to find groups of them on the sides of the road ‘armed' with radar guns, so do watch your speed. Northern Cyprus has also started to install speed cameras and these are becoming a frequent sight. You have been warned! Drinking and driving restrictions are strict and are enforced. If you plan to drink, please do not drive as the penalties are severe. The use of seatbelts is compulsory. If an approaching car flashes its lights, it is actually a warning. It DOES NOT mean proceed (as it might in the UK), but more likely 'I am coming through and am not going to stop'. Parking in North CyprusWe recommend you look out for a car park when visiting the North Cyprus towns. If an area is restricted then a NO PARKING sign will be shown. Sometimes it is a ‘P' in a circle with a line through. Parking is also restricted where you see Black & White or Yellow & White lines painted on the kerb; these are equal to double yellow lines.
